us aid

My friends Jay Amin is a filmmaker from London. He got asked by the  film-company 'what took you so long' to shoot a 3 day film in Sri Lanka for Us Aid. It was going to be a film about plastic pollution in Sri Lanka. They asked him if he could also provide them with pictures to which Jay answered: 'I know someone who can do a way better job at that then I can'. And so he contacted me and I got on the team. We travelled to Arugam Bay together for 3 days.

First day of shooting we went to the company W.L.A.B (Waste Less Arugam Bay). These guys collect plastic from the beaches, transform this into microplastic and melt it together to give it a whole new life as a new product.

Second day of shooting we visited Rice & carry, a fair-trade social enterprise, that makes attributes from recycled material from the ocean. In the workplace there's only women, to give women employment opportunities and a good and fair wage.
